Duties / Roles / Activities: Duties and Responsibilities:
Our reception desk volunteers are responsible for the following:

• Opening and closing the reception area and main floor of the museum
• Welcoming visitors to the MoD and answering their questions
• Selling admissions tickets, event tickets, gift shop material and hunting permits
• Answering all incoming reception desk calls
• Reception related health and safety
• Being a part of a team that ensures visitors have a positive memorable experience at the MoD
Sample Tasks: Selling event tickets, answering questions, selling memberships and entering the data, tracking attendance, restocking gift shop shelves
Dates & Times:
  • Daytime
  • Weekend
Seasonal: All Year
Location of Volunteer Activity:
  • Shelburne and area

Can be used toward '40 Hours' for Highschool Graduation (OSSD): No
Commitment Length / Duration: Long Term (more than 1 year)

Skills / Experience: Skills and Qualifications:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Reliability
• A friendly and welcoming demeanor
• Ability and willingness to learn new computer programs and procedures
• Familiarity with a basic printer and photocopier
• Ability to problem solve and multi-task
• Working knowledge of WORD and EXCEL

The following skills would be an asset but are not required:

• Knowledge of Dufferin County and the areas surrounding the MoD
• Working knowledge of OUTLOOK
• Previous experience with a point of sale system and/or credit card payment system
• Retail experience
• Understanding of Museum operations
