Duties / Roles / Activities: |
Your top priority is donor safety and experience. You help create a positive, welcoming and comfortable donor experience by greeting donors with a smile, thanking them for their donation and making conversation. The care and attention you give is very often a key reason why donors return, leading to donor satisfaction and retention. As one of the last faces donors see on their way out, you play a critical role in the success of future blood donor clinics. Help to: • Monitor donors for any post-donation reactions – you are our eyes and ears on the clinic floor • Create a safe, positive and welcoming environment for donors • Interact and engage in conversation with donors Promote the Give Blood app |
Sample Tasks: |
Provide snacks and refreshments to donors, post-donation Sanitize high touch points such as tables and chairs Wipe down the chairs in refreshment area after a donor departs (varies by region) Encourage donors to sit for 5 minutes, not mandatory but preferred Ensure donors eat or drink outside the donor centre as masks are always to be worn when in the centre Stock up all food and drink items at the end of your shift on the table or counter; this makes it easier for the next volunteer when they arrive Refer donors to our 1-888 number for any questions that you can’t answer (i.e. giving medical advice) Promote the Give Blood app Two or three hour shifts, planned in advance, once a month. First shift, set up snack station. Last shift, close up snack station. Monitor for donor wellness. Understand what to do, if something happens. Wipe chairs and pick up area between donors.
