Why you might want to consider taking this opportunity: You can be a champion for access to justice! North Peel & Dufferin Community Legal Services is looking for new members for our board of directors. We are a community legal clinic serving residents of Brampton, Caledon and Dufferin County. We provide free legal services to persons with low income, including help with tenancies, disability benefits, social assistance, immigration and employment law. Visit us at www.NorthPeelDufferinJustice.ca. Community legal clinics are funded by Legal Aid Ontario but each one is an independent non-profit corporation with a community based board of directors.
Our board of directors is a policy board, with operational matters left to the Executive Director. The board meets monthly; however, there are no meetings in July, August or December. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m., usually for about 1½ hours. Currently board meetings are virtual (during the pandemic) and there is always the option to join board meetings by video even when in-person meetings resume.
Please apply by email, with a resume, to the Executive Director, Jack Fleming at FlemingJ@lao.on.ca by 5:00 p.m., October 22, 2021. Also feel free to contact Jack with any questions.
