Skills / Experience: While no skills or experience is needed, some things that may be beneficial when volunteering with us are...

Dog Handling Skills: Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments safely and confidently. While beneficial, you will be taught proper handling skills if needed.

No Allergies to Animals: Volunteers should have no allergies to animals.

Comfortable with Getting Dirty: Volunteers should be comfortable with getting dirt or messy and potentially dealing with dog waste.

Not Afraid of Dogs: Volunteers should not be afraid of dogs.

Basic Dog Knowledge: Familiarity with canine behaviour and care practices. While none is required, it would be beneficial, but all eager to learn are welcome.

Patience and Empathy: Ability to remain patient and empathetic when working with dogs undergoing training.

Communication Skills: Clear communication with other volunteers and staff members to ensure the well-being of the dogs.

Physical Fitness: Some tasks may require physical strength and stamina, such as walking or grooming larger dogs or handling heavy bags of dog food.

Reliability and Commitment: Dependability in fulfilling volunteer commitments and following through on assigned tasks.

Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and tasks as needed.

Passion for Animal Welfare: A genuine interest in improving the lives of service dogs and the people they assist.

Respect for Policies and Procedures: Adherence to organizational policies and procedures related to animal care and safety, and client confidentiality.
